HACKETT ARMY WIN THE 2015 HACKETT RUNDLE CUP

The Hackett Army Polo team win by just half a goal (6 – 5.5) over the Royal Navy at Tidworth Polo Club in the 2015 Hackett Rundle Cup. 6,000 spectators attended.

THE ARMY POLO DEVELOPMENT TEAM

iThe Army Development Team of Lt Moss Hamilton, Capt Henry Foster, Lt Alex Walch and Capt Hugh Richardson played against a mixed Army and Reserve side of Col Simon Goldstein, Tpr Mark Selway, OCdt Sam Tay and OCdt Rishi Ahluwalia in an exhibition match at the Dallas Burston Polo Club Ladies day by kind invitation.  A -2/-3 goal matchwhich gave the spectators finishing the charity lunch (which raised over £50,000) a fine fast show of a hard fought and sporting Army match.  A real treat to play at the superb set up and on the great club pitches, the final score was 4 – 2 1/2 to the Army and Reserves although it could have gone either way.  The support from the club was excellent, and they were very pleased to have Army teams competing.  They are very interested in more appearances from the Army, and possibly a small tournament next year, so hopefully more Army players will soon have the opportunity to play at this great venue.

NOTICE – The Hurlingham Polo Association

As reported in the Horse and Hound this week horse owners have been urged to identify trees near where their horses are turned out as there have been increased warnings regarding Atypical Myopathy which is a seasonal disease and is fatal in 70-80% of horses.  There has been a surge this year and it is caused by a toxin in sycamore seeds.  The British Equine Veterinary Association says that the weather is to blame due to high winds and heavy rain resulting in seeds falling from trees and are urging owners not to graze horses near sycamore trees from the autumn through until late spring and to check their horses at least twice a day. For more information please visit here
